ABOUT INDIA

Although born in Georgia, India’s mother took little time returning to her deep family roots in Oconee County, dating back to the early 1800’s with Ephriam Cobb and Louisa Turner. Her grandfather moved them into the historical home of Horseshoe Robinson, which is well over 200 years old and had been in her family for generations, until the recent passing of her grandfather Buck Cobb and his sister Mary Ellen Carver.

India attended elementary and middle-school in Westminster, and West-Oak High School. She graduated from Tri County Technical College with an Associate of Science in Nursing and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. While working as a LPN, she advanced her studies to become a licensed Registered Nurse and holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Clemson University.  India works in various Med/Surg and Renal Dialysis capacities.

India’s step-father, the late Marshall Rogers, was a Vietnam veteran who served as Commander of VFW Post 6830 in Walhalla for over twenty years.

India has two sons. Denver is an Information Technology Director and Jody is a ninth generation farmer.  She and her husband Jim Mann attend Foothills Community Church.  Together they have 6 grandchildren.

WHY I’M RUNNING

I am not a politician, but my family history in Oconee County is calling me from the grassroots to steer future development in a direction that preserves Oconee’s heritage, culture and beauty.  Decisions made by our County Council not only affect our lives today, but will have lasting consequences on generations to come.  Every VOTE on council directly impacts our communities, our freedoms, and our pocketbooks.

My commitment to District 2 and Oconee is that I will protect all of these priorities as your chosen representative on County Council.  I promise that my vote on council will reflect the majority voice of District 2 taxpayers.  I will boldly push for increased public visibility and insist that all council business is presented in straight forward terms that the general public can understand.  If there is a conflict on council between special interests and the taxpayer, then I will make sure that the taxpayer always wins.

I sincerely want to be your District 2 representative on County Council and request your vote on June 11 to win this election together, because WE THE TAXPAYERS know what’s best for Oconee.

The South Carolina Republican Creed

I do not choose to be a common man. It is my right to be uncommon. If I can seek opportunity, not security, I want to take the calculated risk to dream and build, to fail and to succeed. I refuse to barter incentive for dole. I prefer the challenges of life to guaranteed security, the thrill of fulfillment to the stale calm of utopia. I will not trade freedom for beneficence, nor my dignity for a handout. I will never cower before any master, save my God. It is my heritage to stand erect, proud and unafraid. To think and act for myself, enjoy the benefit of my creations; to face the whole world boldly and say, “I am a free American.”
